A Surreal Experience

I was one of the student employees at Sawyer my junior and senior years (’87 – ’89). What I remember most about Sawyer, other than pointing out its innovative and creative study and work spaces during campus tours (I was also a tour guide), is being there early on a Saturday or Sunday morning, unlocking the doors for the library’s opening time. The pattern of door unlocking was passed down from student to student, as there was only one efficient pattern, and it was a surreal experience each time moving through an empty space of that size.
