Construction of new off-site shelving facility begins

Construction of the library’s off-site shelving facility began on September 17th.  This new high-density storage building is located a mile and a half north of campus on Simonds Road (Route 7).  Construction is expected to be completed by May 2008 and collections are slated to move in July 2008.

This new high-density storage facility will serve as temporary storage during the construction project.  Once the new library opens in 2011, the building will be used for permanent storage of the Sawyer journal collections and a substantial portion of the collections from Archives and Chapin Library.  Materials stored permanently in the off-site facility will be available through a paging system.
