Statement of Values
We believe in the transformative power of a liberal arts education. We see the Libraries as an intellectual forum for the Williams community—a place where the world of ideas is made manifest, and where critical inquiry is nurtured and stimulated. We engage ourselves in the journey of learning, and pledge to be welcoming, knowledgeable and respectful of the diversity of ideas and rights to privacy, always seeking the best way to serve our community—through face-to-face encounters and the most current technology. We embrace our role as educators and providers of what is representative, provocative, and fine in the arts and sciences. A tradition of personal service and rich historic collections are the foundations upon which we build for the future.
