Rare Astronomy Books on Display

Copernicus solar system diagram 1543On view in the Special Collections Instruction Gallery (Sawyer 408) through mid-September are important works in the history of Astronomy and Astrophysics, from Copernicus to Newton, chosen from the collection of Jay and Naomi Pasachoff on deposit in the Chapin Library. The display is in honor of Prof. Pasachoff’s 75th birthday this July, and of many years of collaboration between the libraries and the Astronomy department. This fall, Prof. Pasachoff and Chapin Librarian Wayne Hammond will teach a course on the Great Astronomers, using rare books from the Pasachoff and Chapin collections.
