Special Collections welcomes Remy Gates as our Simmons Archives Management intern for the Fall semester. Remy is processing several collections in the Chapin Library and the College Archives, physically stabilizing them and making them intellectually accessible to library researchers. A processing internship exposes library science students to a broad range of professional practices: appraisal, preservation, description, and outreach. Thanks to Remy’s efforts the Alfreda Joslin collection on Jacob’s Pillow, and the Anthony Fay scrapbooks on Jacob’s Pillow, which document the world-renowned dance school and festival in Becket, Massachusetts, are now available for research.
Remy is currently enrolled in the Simmons College Masters Program in Library and Information Science, with a concentration in Cultural Heritage Informatics. He is a 2016 graduate of Williams College with a degree in Japanese.
