Getting Things that are "On Reserve"

"The syllabus says this article is on reserve at the library.  What does that mean?  How do I get it?"

If your professor wants the whole class to read a book or watch a movie, he or she can put the item "on reserve" at the library.  Items on reserve can only be checked out for a short period of time, so that one person doesn't hog the item for days and everyone has a chance to use it.

To get a book or movie that is on reserve, bring the call number for the item to the Access Services Desk and they will retrieve it and check it out to you.  For items on reserve at Schow, ask for materials by course number at the Schow Services Desk.  You can find the call number in FRANCIS by searching for the item title, the course number, or the professor's name.

Professors can also post articles or chapters of books to E-Reserves, an online version of the reserve system.  Just go to ereserves.williams.edu to find your course materials.
