Ramadan exhibit?

Hi, Since the Islamic month of Ramadan is coming up this Saturday, I thought it might be interesting if Sawyer could perhaps do an exhibit on Islamic documents and artwork (from books in Sawyer itself). It could provide free brochures, written information, or any kind of interesting display that would catch the attention of the passerby. Due to the increasing number of Muslims on campus this year, I thought it would be appropriate if there was an exhibit telling students more about members of their own community since we all share something unique and different, and the library exhibits are just a great place to start sharing that type of information. Please let me know if you intend to plan this for sometime this month (Ramadan ends on Oct 22). --Uzaib

Back to the Suggestion Box

Dear Uzaib,

Thank you for the suggestion. The large cases in the lobby of Sawyer are already booked for displays through the spring. Creating exhibits for these cases is time consuming and we need to plan these ahead of time – therefore, we wouldn't be able to do anything this October. Our list of upcoming displays does already include the broad theme of highlighting library materials that promote cultural diversity on campus so we may be able to do something within that framework. If you are interested to work on this broader theme, please let me know -- we might be able to do something in the spring.
