Feminist Majority Foundation
"The Feminist Majority Foundation (FMF), which was founded
in 1987, is a cutting edge organization dedicated to women's
equality, reproductive health, and non-violence. In all spheres,
FMF utilizes research and action to empower women economically,
socially, and politically. Our organization believes that
feminists - both women and men, girls and boys - are the majority,
but this majority must be empowered."
National Gay and Lesbian Task Force
"The mission of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is to build the
grassroots power of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT)
community. We do this by training activists, equipping state and local
organizations with the skills needed to organize broad-based campaigns
to defeat anti-LGBT referenda and advance pro-LGBT legislation, and
building the organizational capacity of our movement. Our Policy
Institute, the movement's premier think tank, provides research and
policy analysis to support the struggle for complete equality and to
counter right-wing lies. As part of a broader social justice movement,
we work to create a nation that respects the diversity of human
expression and identity and creates opportunity for all."
National Organization for Women
"NOW is the largest, most comprehensive feminist advocacy group in the United
States. Our purpose is to take action to bring women into full participation in
society sharing equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities with men,
while living free from discrimination."
Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR)
Women's Human Rights and Gender Unit
"As reflected in her Plan of Action and the OHCHR Strategic Management
Plan, the High Commissioner for Human Rights is committed to placing
gender and women's rights at the core of the work of the Office as a
whole. To this end, a specific Women's Human Rights and Gender Unit was
established in 2006. The work of the newly created unit flows from the
role that the High Commissioner for Human Rights can play in legal
standard setting with respect to the inequalities in relation to
accessing justice in its broadest sense."
