What is it? Contains the Federal Register from its inception in 1936, the Code of Federal Regulations, the Administrative Procedure Act, Code of Emergency Federal Regulations, the U.S. Government Manual and the Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents. The Federal Register is where the details of the rules and regulations that enforce federal law are first published. See the User Guide.

Why use it? Use the Federal Register Library to find details of the United States federal government agencies' proposed rules, changes to existing rules, and final rules, and legal notices of Federal agencies and organizations, as well as executive orders and other presidential documents. The historic Federal Register can provide important details of policy evolutions on issues such as the environment, social issues, trade topics, etc.
