Given the broad definition of information literacy, librarians, faculty, and information technology specialists must work together to educate our students. Becoming information literate is a process. It does not happen by attending a one-time research class with a librarian or by writing one term paper. Information literacy comes through repeated practice in finding, evaluating, and using information. Research assignments integrated throughout students' college careers, whether large research papers or small assignments using information sources outside a textbook or readings packet, will give our students multiple opportunities to demonstrate and improve upon their information literacy skills.
