Carrels, Lockers, and Shelves

Carrels

Carrels are assigned study areas for students wishing to have their own space to collect materials and study. All library materials must be charged out when kept on carrels. All carrels are assigned each fall for the entire academic year.

Study Carrels

Registration: Carrel registration for seniors working on their theses begins the first Monday of Fall Term (September 14th in 2009). Other seniors may register on the Tuesday, and all other students may register for carrels beginning on Wednesday.

Sawyer: Carrels are available to all students and are assigned at the Sawyer Access Services Desk. Many of the carrels are equipped with a locker for personal belongings.

Schow: Carrels are available to students in Division III or Psychology and are assigned at the Schow Services Desk. Each carrel is equipped with a locker.

Lockers

Lockers are assigned for the entire academic year or the summer months.

Sawyer: Lockers are available to all patrons and are assigned at the Sawyer Access Services Desk. They are to be used to store personal items only. Library materials may never be kept in lockers - use an assigned shelf or carrel instead.

Schow: Lockers are available to all patrons and are assigned at the Schow Services Desk.

Shelves

In Sawyer there are empty numbered shelves throughout the library assigned to any patron wishing to have a place to store charged-out library materials in the library. All materials kept on shelves must be charged out. The shelves are assigned at the Access Services Desk for the entire academic year.
