Construction of new Sawyer Library has been delayed at least a year due to national and international economic conditions. This decision was made by the Board of Trustees and the President's Senior Staff as announced by President Schapiro on October 18, 2008. Since then, the detailed Construction Documents have been completed and the latest project pricing exercise will soon occur. The new Sawyer Library will be a dynamic research center. Home of the social sciences and humanities collections and the library's Learning Commons the new library complex will also house the College Archives, the Chapin Library and the Center for Media Initiatives. The co-location of collections, services and technology promises to create an engaging space for learning and teaching.
