What Is A Web Feed?

A web feed is a document that contains a summary of information from a website in machine-readable format (such as RSS). Whenever new information is added, the document is updated. By "subscribing" to a web feed, you can be notified of any new information without having to visit the site over and over. Feeds are common on news sites like The New York Times, on blogs, or anywhere that new information is frequently posted.

How Do I Subscribe?

To subscribe to a library web feed, you will need a feed reader. A feed reader is a program that monitors all of your web feeds and displays any new information. Some popular ones are Google Reader, Bloglines, and FeedReader. The first two of these are web-based while the third is a program you download to your computer.

Once you have a feed reader, you can put in the URL for one of the library's web feeds and you're set.
