(Sawyer Library Lobby)
Created by Moira Yoe '10, the 'Darwinmania' display celebrates the 150th year since Darwin's bold theory of evolution in The Origin of Species. It highlights not only scientific journals and speculation about Darwin's theory but also focuses on the impact of the theory on popular culture in editorial cartoons and satirical comic books. In addition to focusing on the cultural, legal, religious, scientific, and philosophical influence of the theory the display also contains books and articles that speculate on the reserved and complex Mr. Darwin, who was a failed medical student before becoming a naturalist and theologian. The display combines books from both Sawyer and Schow libraries. A bibliography of this display is available.
On display July 10th through August 28th, 2008.
