The proxy server allows you to connect to Williams-Only resources from off campus by redirecting each request through a computer on campus.
You appear to be off-campus. Use the proxy server to connect to our resources.
Faculty: Even if you are using the VPN, you must still use the proxy server to access library resources from home.
It is important to use the proxy server only when you need to access a Williams resource. If you are not accessing a restricted site, turn it off. (To turn it off in Internet Explorer, make certain "Use a Proxy Server" is not checked; in Netscape, make certain "Direct Connect to the Internet" is checked.) The proxy server will make your internet connection slower, since each page you load will be filtered through the Williams network.
Use the directions below to configure the proxy server for your browser. Note: the proxy server will ask for your Williams username and password. This information is not passed to the site, but is used by the proxy server to grant you access.
