A public scanner station is available on the first floor of Sawyer Library and in the Schow Science Library Copy Room; there is no charge for use of this equipment.
Users may scan library materials or their own materials subject to normal copyright restrictions. The scanners are attached to the network. Williams users can save their scans to their network accounts or email their scans to themselves. Both scanners have Photoshop and Acrobat Professional on it as well as DeskScan for scanning images and OmniPage Lite for OCR Optical Character Recognition. Williams users can also use the scanner located in the Sawyer Computer Lab (Sawyer 2nd Floor).
Users without a network account or storage device may place their scans in the Scanned Images Folder. The Scanned Images folder is cleaned out once a week.
Sawyer and Schow also have Digital Senders, scanners with a built-in email delivery option of PDF, JPEG, TIFF, or MTIFF files. Materials can scanned through the automatic document feeder (for separate sheets of paper) or on the flatbed (for bound or irregularly-sized items). It can handle double-sided documents and output in color or black and white.
