About the BLC Virtual Catalog
Williams College faculty, students, and staff may request items via the virtual catalog. You are requesting from a BLC library. BLC libraries are committed to rapid delivery to other BLC libraries. If you request a book from a BLC library that is on the shelves, expect to receive it in 3-5 working days.
If requesting a multi-volume set, you must send a separate request for each volume.
If you had problems locating a resource on the virtual catalog:
- The item is not owned by any members of the Virtual Catalog. (Williams College Faculty, Students and Staff may request it through Interlibrary Loan using ILLiad.
)
- You are looking for a serial. (The Virtual Catalog does not typically search serials.)
- You need to use a different search strategy. (Speak to a Reference Librarian for more help.)
To use the virtual catalog, you will need to log into it using your barcode. Your barcode is the 14 digit number on the back of your ID, beginning with 20001. If your barcode is not accepted:
- The Virtual Catalog may be down. (Check with a Reference Librarian.)
- You have entered your ID incorrectly. (Try entering your ID again.)
- Your card has expired or you owe more that $1000 in fines and lost items. (Speak to Circulation Staff.)
- You are blocked for not returning a recalled item. (Return the recalled item.)
If you attempted to request an item and were told that it is not requestable, it could be that:
- Williams owns the item and it is available. (Check FRANCIS.)
- The loaning library does not loan this type of material. (Williams College Faculty, Students and Staff may request it through Interlibrary Loan using ILLiad.)
