In January we unveiled a new public interface for FRANCIS, our online catalog. Do you have questions or comments about the new system? Please post them here and we will respond on the website. Or, you can contact us directly through our Ask A Librarian service.
It would be nice to be able to get back to the library homepage when in Francis. I can't seem to find a way.
Thanks,
Bill Darrow

The text messaging function for call numbers does not work for Macs. Can this be remedied?

We will take a look at it. What browser are you using?

Works in Firefox 3.03 on the MAC, not in Safari also does not work on Safari on a PC - I have written a bug report to Apple to see why

I'm using Safari 4.03 on Mac, and the forward and backward navigation buttons do not work well in Francis. For example, do a search, re-sort the results by date, now use the back button to try to "undo" the date sort: it erases the search results and takes you back to the starting search screen.
This happens a lot in various situations where you use the back button, and always requires starting the search over from the beginning--there's no way to recover the lost results.
Firefox 3.5.2 does not seem to have this problem

Browsers differ in terms of how they handle navigation. How a browser implements security and privacy controls greatly influence how it handles requests to redisplay previously viewed pages. For that reason, many databases build into them navigation tools. These buttons (as opposed to the back and forward page buttons) are the most reliable means of navigation. In the case of FRANCIS - there are button to return to list (of records), next and previous record, save records, and format for printing. I will report the issue you are having to Apple to see if they feel that Safari should respond to back page requests differently. Apple tends to be good in evaluating such issues and have fixed java-scripting issues with Safari that I have reported.

A quick question about using the FRANCIS "Your Library Record":
When I click Logout on the upper right, the browser opens a new window to tell me I've logged out, but the window in which I was working remains open and logged in. This seems to happen in both Safari and Firefox on a Mac.
